Runic Atlas

One book instead of a bag of runebooks. The Runic Atlas starts with 20 rune slots and can be expanded, with gold, all the way to 200. It behaves like a runebook everywhere it matters: cast Recall or Gate on the atlas itself and you travel to its default rune, it can be locked down or secured in a house, and dropping recall scrolls onto it stores charges.

Getting one

  • Every playtester's supply grant includes one (it lands in your bank alongside your gold and coffers).
  • The Store sells them under Convenience for 50,000 gold.

Filling it

Drop things onto the atlas:

  • A marked recall rune stores it in the next free slot.
  • A recall scroll adds one charge each, up to the atlas's charge capacity. Drop a stack bigger than the free capacity and the atlas takes only what fits - the rest of the stack comes back to you.
  • A whole runebook moves its runes into the atlas's free slots and hands the book back to you, never consuming it. If the atlas lacks room for everything, it takes what fits and the rest stay in the book. The book keeps its own recall charges.

Expanding it

Open the atlas and press the unlock button. Each purchase adds 10 slots and costs more than the last: the first unlock is 20,000 gold, the second 40,000, and so on. Taking an atlas from 20 to the full 200 slots costs 3,420,000 gold in total. Slots belong to that atlas.

Charge capacity is separate. Every atlas starts able to hold 50 charges, and the panel's second button adds 10 more capacity for a flat 50,000 gold per purchase, up to 200.

The panel

Double-click the atlas to open it:

  • Search filters your runes as you type.
  • Each rune row has RECALL and GATE (cast the real spells, reagents and skill required), CHG (spend a stored recall charge instead, no reagents), a star to set the default rune, a pencil to rename the rune, and an X to drop the rune back into your pack.
  • The starred default rune is where casting Recall or Gate directly on the atlas takes you.

Travel by name

Three commands work from anywhere, matching the start of a rune's name (case does not matter), searching your atlas first and then any classic runebooks in your pack:

Command What it does
[recall brit Casts Recall to the first rune starting with "brit"
[gate brit Casts Gate Travel to it
[recallcharge brit Travels there using a stored charge, no reagents
