Scavenger Hunt¶
When staff starts a hunt, everyone can take part. Open your world map and look for the gold search circle in the overworld. Somewhere inside is a small weathered pouch.
Staff can place the pouch themselves or let the hunt choose a random overworld hiding spot with a checked walking route from a public travel arrival. The pouch stays in that spot for the entire hunt.
The hunt normally begins with a huge 3,000-tile-wide search circle. When a new clue arrives, the circle gets smaller and shifts to a fresh position, with a short notification sound. The new circle can extend beyond the old one, so do not assume its center is where you should run. The pouch stays inside every circle, but is not marked at its center. The map shows the time until the next clue. The final circle stays until someone finds the pouch or staff ends the hunt.
Find the pouch by looking around the world, not by holding Ctrl+Shift. Stand within two tiles of it while alive, with a clear view, and double-click it. Diagonal range counts too. The first valid claim wins, is announced to the server, and ends the hunt for everyone.
There is no queue or entry fee. Joining late is fine. Type [scavenger to check whether a hunt is running. Staff chooses the clue interval; early playtests use one minute. This first version announces the winner without an automatic prize payout.
Update and fully restart the client to see search circles and hear clue updates. Hunts end when the server restarts.
Event and sound preferences¶
In Options > Sound, all three settings start enabled:
- Show scavenger hunt events shows the map circle and public hunt announcements. Turning it off also silences hunt audio. It does not remove the pouch or prevent you from claiming it.
- Scavenger hunt sounds controls the spoken starting announcement and the soft chime when a new clue arrives. Turn this off to keep the map clues without audio.
- Map ping sounds controls the separate soft ping for party and guild world-map pings. It does not mute hunt clues.
Click Apply or Okay to save. Sound volume, the main sound switch, and background-audio settings still apply. Joining an ongoing hunt does not replay its starting announcement, and repeated map updates do not repeat the clue chime.
